Privacy Policy.

This policy covers Govvy’s iOS and Android apps, website and related services. Govvy is an independent civic-information service and does not represent, or have an affiliation with or endorsement from, any government entity.

When you register or update your profile, we process your account identifier, name, email address and/or phone number, sign-in information, and the address, city, state or ZIP code you provide. We also record account creation and sign-in times. Guest mode can use an anonymous Firebase account identifier; it does not mean that all app activity is anonymous.

We use the location you enter to find representatives, districts and election information. If you choose a current-location feature and grant device permission, the app obtains your coordinates and uses a geocoding service to determine your city, state and ZIP code. You can enter a location manually and change location permission in your device settings.

Address and location lookups may be processed by the U.S. Census Geocoder, Google geocoding or Civic Information services, Cicero, and your device’s geocoding provider, depending on the feature. Information you save to your profile remains associated with your account. Search requests also pass through Govvy and relevant data providers to return results.

Saved representatives, bills, PACs and stock follows, alert selections and other account preferences are associated with your account. When you enable supported mobile notifications, we process a push token, installation identifier, platform, app version, permission state, time-zone offset and notification preferences. Delivery and interaction records help operate and troubleshoot alerts.

Turn all Govvy notifications on or off under Me → Notifications. Device permissions also apply. Browser push notifications are not currently supported. Availability depends on your membership, source coverage and device permissions.

Usage analytics is enabled by default unless you turn it off on this device under Me → Usage analytics. Firebase/Google Analytics processes screen views, feature interactions, public record identifiers, onboarding and subscription activity, app/device information and installation identifiers. Activity can be linked to your Firebase account identifier, account type and subscription tier. This is separate from the unlinked search observations described below.

Turning this setting off stops future Govvy product analytics events and search observations on that device; it does not erase previously collected records or disable processing needed for sign-in, payments, security or requested features.

When Usage analytics is enabled, a separate search-quality record can contain search type, entry point, normalized query, allowlisted filters, result count, up to ten public result identifiers and a selected public result. These records do not include your account ID, email, phone, IP address or device identifier. Donor, contribution and representative-city search terms are redacted. Pattern checks also redact queries that resemble contact information, street addresses, ZIP codes or URLs; these checks cannot guarantee detection of every sensitive phrase. Donor and contribution result rows are not recorded.

These raw observations are marked to expire after 30 days and deleted asynchronously, so removal may occur after the expiration time. Aggregate search trends may remain. Because these observations lack an account identifier, they cannot be selected for individual account deletion. This description concerns the observation records, not the network requests needed to run searches.

Apple or Google Play processes mobile subscription payments; RevenueCat helps verify purchases, restore access and manage subscription status using your Govvy account identifier, product and transaction information. Stripe processes web subscriptions and optional tips. Govvy receives billing identifiers, subscription status, purchase history and relevant transaction details. Payment details are entered with the payment provider; Govvy does not receive your full card number through these checkout flows.

Govvy Supporter is a subscription that includes Pro benefits where offered. An optional tip is separate and does not unlock features. Payment providers retain records under their own policies and legal obligations.

Feedback requests are stored with your account. Requests are private unless you choose to share them and Govvy approves publication. Shared titles, descriptions, categories, dates, status and published thread updates can be visible to other signed-in users. Account IDs, names and email fields are not included in the public projection, but personal information you type into shared text can be visible. A pseudonymous contributor identifier supports hiding a contributor’s requests on your device.

You may attach up to three screenshots. Screenshots remain private to you and Govvy even when request text is shared. Deleting a request removes its public copy, screenshots and thread updates. Submission history, invitation state and opt-out preferences prevent repeated feedback prompts. Account deletion removes account-linked feedback and reports. Temporary upload cleanup markers are set to expire after 24 hours and removed by scheduled cleanup.

If you email support, we receive the contact details, message and attachments you send through your email provider. Email correspondence is not automatically erased by the in-app account deletion flow; contact us to request its removal. Do not send passwords, verification codes, full card numbers or unnecessary sensitive information. Store reviews are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.

Where community features are available, posts, replies, ratings, upvotes, mentions, reports, blocks and notification preferences are associated with your account. Content and ratings may reveal political opinions or other sensitive information. Participation is optional. These disclosures also apply to previously submitted content when community navigation is unavailable.

Named posts use your separate community name and handle. Anonymous posts show a conversation-specific alias rather than your public profile, but Govvy retains the private account association for moderation and abuse prevention. New posts and edits require review before publication. Public source attachments and moderation approval do not verify a user’s claim.

Available controls include deleting your comments, reporting content, blocking authors and muting conversations. If those controls are unavailable in your version, contact support. Account deletion removes your authored text, citations, ratings and identifying associations; empty conversation placeholders and other people’s replies may remain. A temporary deletion guard prevents concurrent writes during deletion.

We use information to operate accounts and civic searches, synchronize saved items, provide purchases and requested notifications, handle feedback, moderate content, improve the service and prevent abuse. We do not sell, trade or rent personal information or sell political-interest profiles or donor-targeting data.

Service providers receive information needed for these functions, including Google/Firebase for authentication, hosting, storage, analytics, security and messaging; Apple and Google for platform services and purchases; RevenueCat for subscriptions; Stripe for payments; and the location and civic-data providers used by your requests. Published community and feedback content is shared as described above. We may also disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect rights, safety and service security.

The app and website use local storage, caches and service identifiers to maintain sign-in, preferences and functionality. Analytics may use SDK or browser identifiers when enabled. Infrastructure and service providers may process IP addresses, request metadata and diagnostic/security logs. Disabling Usage analytics does not disable essential service logs.

External source pages, embedded browsing, checkout and services you choose to contact operate under their own privacy policies. Providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate.

Account/profile records and saved preferences are generally retained while you use the account or until you remove them. In-app deletion is available under Me → Delete account and may require signing in again. The deletion process removes your Firebase sign-in and account-linked Govvy database records, including profile, follows, notification settings, membership records, feedback and community data as described above. It also clears Govvy’s local account state and resets the local analytics identity on the device making the request.

Account deletion does not automatically delete historical Google Analytics data, email correspondence or records held by Apple, Google Play, RevenueCat or Stripe. Provider records, logs and backups follow their respective retention and legal requirements. Unlinked search observations expire separately; aggregate statistics and other users’ content may remain. Contact us for access or deletion requests that extend beyond the in-app flow.

If you cannot use the app, email jwgillispie011@gmail.com with the subject “Govvy account deletion” and the email address or phone number associated with the account. We may need to verify account ownership. Never send your password or verification codes. Deleting your account or uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription; cancel with the billing provider separately.

You can update your profile, remove saved items, turn off Usage analytics on each device, manage notification and location permissions, and delete your account. Rights and exceptions depend on applicable law; we may verify your identity before acting. A self-service data export is not currently offered.

Govvy uses authentication, access controls and service-provider security measures to protect information. No system or transmission is completely secure.

Govvy is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can investigate and address it.
